Mangalore Trip

I had yet another wonderful weekend, this time being spent at Mangalore :) Although the distance between bangalore and mangalore is only around 500 KM, it takes 12 hours in train coz most of the journey is in hilly terrain... Also the train halted at several places... However, it reached on time at Mangalore central at 8 45 AM on 13th Feb.... Although my parents have gone to Mangalore several times, this was the first time for me... The purpose of the trip was actually to meet my sis and have fun over there...

Only after reaching there, we came to know that it was a city bandth over there and no town buses will be available.... Shops were mostly closed, and city looked dull...... My sis is stayin in Beeri (10 KM from Mangalore)... At the bus stop, a old man shocked us sayin tat he was waitin for bus for more than an hour.... Then only we came to know that some KSRTC buses to cities like udupi, puttur, shimoga etc were all running normally... This place Beeri is on the way to Kasaragod(40KM from Mangalore).... When I was actually planning to take an auto, a bus to Kasaragod came to pick up us... The view of Netravathi river on the was awesome :)

It was again 1 KM walk from NH 17 to her college... The main branch of Aloysius college is at a walkable distance from rly station.... This one at Beeri is actually a branch newly constructed... My sis was happy to see us after a loong time.... We spent around half a day in her college just roaming around....

Then we planned to go to Summer sands beech... But as buses were not available and some people also advised us not to roam on that day, we decided to return to the hotel... The next day we went to Panambur beech... We had to walk some 2 KM to reach the beech... I was actually astonished to see Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Factory and UltraTech Cement Factory and quite a lot of timber and lorries at the port, which we had to cross before entering the beech.... The path was full of dust and the color of the sand was irritating until we saw some cool sea sand....

I spent around two hours bathing in the sea... Becoz it was Feb 14th, many people had come to the beech and also someone had arranged events for kids and some good songs were being played all the time.... It was very much enjoyable bathing in the sea after a very long time.....

We departed from Mangalore at 7 45 PM.... The return journey was good in some aspects whereas bad in some others... One good aspect being there was a good lookin gal in my coupe... However most of the compartment was full with 8th, 9th std gals and boys who were all muslims... They were makin noise all the time and I couldn't sleep till 12... Train reached blr by 7 15 AM, and we rushed to the city bus stand to catch the bus to our place... Luckily a bus to our place 287L came as soon as we reached the bus stand :) Over all the trip was good, as the mangalore bandth by Ram sena didn't have much impact :) ;)
